Fashion merchandising can be defined as the business side of designing.  A fashion designer needs to sell his designs in the market. So, this profession is an intersection between creativity and business. The job of a Merchandiser is to track the demands of the consumer and also trends in Fashion.

Qualifications: MBA (Sales & Marketing), Retail Management

Duration: 2yrs degree

Production Management:

Production Management can be said to be the front line of fashion. They are responsible for manufacturing of garments and textiles. They work mostly with suppliers and retailers to ensure quality output.

Fashion Journalism/ Fashion Photography

Fashion writing is all about writing about the fashion industry, new trends, critiquing designs, comparing, forecasting trends, etc.  This aspect of fashion is growing at a fast rate with almost all magazines, trade journals seeking online presence through launching online editions and blogs.  

Fashion Photography is an offshoot of Fashion Journalism and needs the same level of creativity and eye for details as in writing.
